Regulatory Alert - November 2019

Aegis extends this brief regulatory update:

Aerosol Cans Regulated as Universal Waste

EPA is finalizing the proposed addition of aerosol cans to 40 CFR Part 273 Universal Waste.  The proposed rule was published in the Federal Register on March 16, 2018.  A November 15, 2019 Pre-publication copy notice of the proposed final regulation is available at https://www.epa.gov/hw/pre-publication-version-final-rule-adding-aerosol-cans-universal-waste-program.  The regulation will be final when published in the Federal Register anticipated within the next couple of weeks.  For more information, please contact Sandra Morse at smorse@aegisenv.com.

EPA Actions on PFAS

Recently, Per-and Polyfluoroalkyl substances have come under scrutiny for their persistence in the environment and in the human body.  These can be found in items such as food packaging, nonstick products, fire fighting foams, and many other products.  While EPA has issued drinking water health advisory levels, they are still in the process of developing laboratory methods and health-based threshold levels for other environmental media.  For more information, please contact Jessica Gunter at jgunter@aegisenv.com.
